Students learn to navigate a 40-foot transit bus through urban traffic, adhere to a published schedule, and respond to passengers with the correct amount of eye contact (none).

What You'll Learn

  • Operate a 40-foot transit bus in traffic without incident
  • Adhere to a posted schedule, including the parts that are lies
  • Announce stops in a voice conveying both authority and indifference
  • Resolve a fare dispute with a look
  • Refill the DEF tank (whatever that is)
  • Never, under any circumstances, open the rear door early

Week 1
Vehicle Familiarization

The steering wheel. It is large. You are not.

Week 2
Pre-Trip Inspection

Tires, mirrors, fluids, and the reason the radio is set to 94.1.

Week 3
Urban Routes

Stoplights, crosswalks, and the phrase 'cyclists are people too.'

Week 4
Schedule Adherence

You are 11 minutes behind. You have always been 11 minutes behind.

Week 5
Passenger Management

The exact right amount of eye contact. (It is zero.)

Week 6
Road Test

One lap of Route 42. Pick up the right passengers. Decline the wrong ones.
